Have you been overcomplicating this? Getting your home organized has a lot to with how you manage your storage space. So, today I’m spilling the tea. I’ve tried these storage ideas in my own home and I know they will help you maximize the space you have too.
Storage Ideas for a Kitchen Drawer:
1. Roll hand towels
Instead of stacking hand towels in a singular pile, roll them! You can fit more, see what you have, and maximize your storage space.
2. Take the wood block off your counter
Create a clear kitchen counter by ditching the wooden knife block and purchase this in-drawer knife mat instead. This mat keeps your knives sharp, reduces dust settling on the handles, and does not slide around when opening and closet the kitchen drawer.
Storage Ideas for a Kitchen Cabinet:
3. Store paper towels under the kitchen sink
Having the paper towel holder off the kitchen counter not only reduces clutter but cuts down on using paper towels out of habit. As with anything new, this storage habit will take some getting use to. In place of paper towels, we invested in microfiber cloths but you can also try reusable paper towels.

4. A unique storage hack for a cake stand
Since the top of the cake stand is flat, storing it upside down creates vertical space in the kitchen cabinet. As another space saving storage hack, store a large bowl over the cake stand to save even more space.
5. The unspoken rule about dishes
Until I did this for myself, I didn’t think it was going to make a difference. Growing up, dishes were always stored in a cabinet. Didn’t matter who’s house I went to; it was an unspoken rule that dishes are stored in an upper kitchen cabinet.
One day, I decided to reorganize my kitchen to create a more functional system when meal prepping, cooking, and unloading the dishwasher. We have a cabinet to the right of our dishwasher that has two shelves. The top shelf is a pullout drawer.
I relocated the dishes to this bottom cabinet and all I can say is that this storage idea worked and has stayed over time.

6. Cookbook storage idea that makes more sense
A lot of space is taken up with cookbooks and recipes that sit in your kitchen cabinet or on the counter and never get used.
This storage hack makes more sense to keep cookbooks you’re not using with your other books. The ones you are using store above the stove area for easy access. You do not need all your cookbooks in the kitchen all at once.
7. Storage idea for the standing mixer
Unless you are a baker for a living, I doubt you need your standing Kitchen Aid mixer on the counter every day. A deep kitchen cabinet is the perfect storage solution for this heavy kitchen accessory.
8. Lunch prep station
This storage solution is extremely helpful when prepping lunches for the week because everything you need is in one place. Even lunch boxes will have a home and it’s not on top of the fridge.

9. Storage idea for giving your mugs breathing room
When storing mugs in the kitchen cabinet, face them forward with the handle to the side. Create breathing room in this area so you can see what you have. You’ll be able to make a decision quickly before pouring your morning coffee.

Storage Ideas for Other Spaces:
10. Inventory the outside of the fridge
As the weather changes and seasons come and go, so do pictures and artwork hanging on the fridge. This is your sign to take five minutes to take it all down, wipe the fridge, and be more intentional with what goes back up for this next season.
11. An unconventional storage idea for throw blankets
Without spending money on another type of cute basket or container, look around your family room or living room for drawer space.
Is there an drawer you can declutter in your entertainment center to store folded throw blankets?
Or are there blankets you can rotate out so you only have two to choose from? Do what works for you and make this storage accessible yet organized and decluttered.
12. Car storage ideas for the trunk
This car storage organizer from Amazon stores can store reusable grocery bags, a blanket, hat, an extra dog leash, diapers, baby toys, water bottles, and more!
It has sections within the organizer to keep these items separate and easy to locate when you need them. Here are some other options for car organizers to fit exactly what you may need.
